Kiambu Commissioner Gives Hotline Number To Fight Crime, Illegal Brews

Kiambu County Commissioner Alex Nkoyo has lamented the high consumption and brewing of illicit liquor in Thika and Gatundu North Sub-Counties saying it was one of the most serious challenges facing the county.

He therefore called on the residents of this areas to liaise with the authorities to fight the scourge. 

Speaking in a public baraza in Kiandutu earlier this week, Nkoyo said that cases of crime that were reported in the area especially in Thika, had a lot to do with the consumption of liquor and drugs.

"Kiandutu, Ndarugu and areas along Gatukuyu, Makwa and Chania River are very notorious for illicit brewing and consumption, a factor that is ruining the lives of so many young people. I am therefore calling on all members of public to co-operate with the administration in the fight against these illegal substances," he said.

He gave out a toll-free SMS Hotline Number, 22068 which any member of the public could send emergency messages to alert his office of any illegal activities that may be happening within their residence.

"In case you witness anything illegal, just SMS the word "KIAMBU' plus your message to 22068 and my office will take action immediately," said Nkoyo.
