Dramatic Moment As Police Rescue Suspect From Public Lynching.

Police has taken into protective custody a notorious criminal who was nearly lynched by irate members of the public who accused him a spate of thuggery in Witeithie Estate, Juja Sub-County.

Paul Mbugua (22), who is said to be on police and residents of Juja, Athena, Nyacaba, Kibute and Kiganjo ‘wanted list’, for stealing motorbikes, bicycles and households, was saved from jaws of death by administration police officers from Witeithie AP camp after ruthlessly been beaten.

It is said that the suspect was cornered at a car wash site near Bible Fellowship Church at Balozi area in Witeithie Estate after stealing a bike and clothes.  The angry residents descended on him, beating him mercilessly before later dossing him with petrol and lighting him up.

Luckily for the suspect, some APs who were passing by, were attracted by the crowd and rushed to the scene.  The officers, led by Sgt. Tirus Murimi and Corporal Julius Kabanya, dispersed the charged crowd and with the help of APC James Kimani managed to rescue the suspect from eminent death.

They took the suspect to the Thika Level 5 Hospital where he is now fighting for his life.

Doctors at the hospital said the victim was in stable condition but had suffered high degree of burns which could worsen his state. He had suffered severe internal injuries as evident from the bleeding from the mouth, nose and ears.

Police say that the suspect had a fresh gunshot wound in his thigh and it was suspected that the bullet is still lodged in his body. They also claimed that they would examine his situation further to ascertain if the bullet was still lodged in his body. If successful, the bullet would be sent to a ballistic expert to ascertain its origin.

Our sources revealed to us that they suspected that this criminal may be the thug who recently escaped with a gunshot wound when police from Kabati shot dead 6 criminals.
