THIKA POISED TO CELEBRATE 'PEACE ONE DAY' IN STYLE TOMORROW.

Tomorrow, the 21st of September 2015, the world over will be commemorating PEACE ONE DAY, a day set aside to amplify the message of peace to the world. It is a day of global ceasefire and non-violence, unanimously adopted by every UN member state.

This year, the world is marking the day with the Peace One Day Youth Celebration; an event to inform a new generation of peacemakers, which will be beamed live into Rwanda and the world on the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency network. With music, dance, sport and drumming, the voices of young people will be celebrated at the Petit Stade Amahoro to inspire others to take the message of Peace Day home with them.

This celebration will also feature the premiere of 'ONE', the Peace Day Anthem by Coke Studios in Nairobi. This exclusive track has brought together artists from Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania and Uganda celebrating the power of peace in Africa and beyond. This track will be available to download and stream on Peace Day and the money raised will help us continue to manifest action on the day throughout the Great Lakes region of Africa.

In Thika Town the regional representatives have organized a Peace walk and there after a peace gathering at the Eton Hotel. Messages of peace from Jeremy Gilley, the founder of this initiative will be read to the participants that will set pace the way forward for this year.

By joining this Thunderclap you are helping spread this unique message of peace, while, at the same time, contributing to the day’s continued success.

The Peace One Day campaign in the Great Lakes region of Africa has been made possible by the generous support of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation
