Kiambu County Issues Notice to Dispose Seven Unclaimed Bodies
Kiambu County Government, through Kihara Sub County Level 4 Hospital in Kiambaa Sub-County, has issued a public notice appealing to members of the public to help identify and claim seven unclaimed bodies currently lying at its morgue facility.
In a public notice in accordance with the Public Health Act, Cap. 242, and the Public Health (Public Mortuaries) Rules, 1991, Families and other interested persons have been given seven days to identify and collect the bodies.
The hospital has warned that if the bodies remain unclaimed after the notice period, it will seek authorisation from the courts to proceed with their disposal in line with the law.
The unclaimed bodies listed in the notice include Wafula, Regina Melias, Njuguna, Philip Selfwood, Daniel Murimi and two unidentified African males. The deceased are reported to have been brought to the hospital from Gachie, Ruaka, Wangige and Gathiga, with dates of death ranging from 2017 to 2026.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Joseph Malingi urged anyone who may have information about the deceased or their next of kin to contact the hospital immediately to facilitate identification and collection before the expiry of the seven-day notice period.
