Family in Thika in Shock After CCTV Captures Intruders Ransacking, Stealing from Their Home for Nearly Two Hours While They Slept
A family in the Ngoingwa–Tola area of Thika/Juja has been left shaken after CCTV cameras captured two unidentified men breaking into their home and moving freely through the house for nearly two hours while they slept.
A CCTV footage shared on social media shows the suspects entering the compound at around 1:00am after climbing over the perimeter wall at the rear of the property. With their heads and parts of their faces concealed by hoodies, the two men made their way into the house armed with flashlights.
The footage shows the intruders calmly ransacking the house room by room, picking up small valuables from tables and chairs before checking beneath furniture and around the living room for more items.
Their slow and methodical movements have stunned many who have watched the footage online. Rather than rushing, the suspects appeared to take their time, carefully inspecting every room and setting aside valuables before continuing with their search.
At one point, the CCTV footage shows the men carrying some of the stolen items to the gate and placing them on the perimeter wall, seemingly in preparation for their escape.
One of the suspects was also seen walking cautiously around the parking area, apparently trying to avoid triggering the vehicle's alarm system, while his accomplice moved towards the gazebo and shone a flashlight through a window, seemingly attempting to gain access.
The pair later removed the family's television set and sound system, carrying them outside one at a time before returning to collect additional items hanging on the living room wall.
In another startling moment captured on camera, one of the suspects was seen at the back of the house partially undressing as he removed clothes from a washing line. Upon noticing one of the CCTV cameras, he quickly concealed himself among the hanging clothes before continuing with the theft.
Perhaps the most baffling aspect of the incident is that the homeowners remained asleep throughout the entire ordeal and only discovered the break-in after waking up later. The only apparent witness to the incident was the family's cat, which is seen wandering around the compound during the burglary, seemingly unsettled by the presence of the intruders.
The footage has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many expressing disbelief that the suspects managed to spend nearly two hours inside the house without waking anyone.
Some online users have speculated that the family may have been exposed to a sedative before or during the break-in, causing them to remain unusually asleep. The circumstances surrounding how the intruders were able to operate undetected remain unclear.
