Thika Cab driver rescues baby boy dumped under a lorry hours after it was born.
A taxi driver has rescued a newborn baby
boy who was dumped under some lorry trucks near National Oil Petrol Station
(Posta) in Makongeni estate Thika just hours after being born.
Mwangi Wangonjo who operates a cab in
the vicinity, says that he was alerted by a night guard in the area at around
5,30 am.
The guard had heard a baby crying
under one of the parked lorries and upon of searching they found the baby
struggling alone.
They quickly covered him with some
warm garments which they sourced from the nearby shops and reported the matter
at Makongeni Police Station.
The baby was later rushed to Thika
Level Five Hospital.
According to the Nurse in charge
Jackline Njoroge, the baby’s healthy condition has improved and he is out of
danger. She added that once they were satisfied that he was ready to leave the
facility, they would hand him to the Thika Children’s Department.
The police are now appealing to the
members of public to report any woman whom they suspect to be the culprit to
enable them take legal action against her.
