MCA Arraigned In Court For Defrauding Sh. 1.3M In Non-existent Land.


A Kiambu County MCA has been charged in a Thika court for conning a several investors of millions of shillings in a fake land deal in Ruiru.

Isaac Kinuthia Njogu of Theta Ward in Ruiru Sub-County, was on diverse dates between 18th July 2014 and 13th January 2015, accused of falsely pretending that he was capable of selling several plots.

The court heard that Njogu, together with other accomplices who are yet to be charged in court, jointly with intent to defraud, obtained Ksh. 1,000,000 from George Gachuri Kagotho falsely pretending that they were in a position to sell him 5 plots hived from land parcel No. Ruiru/Ruiru East Block 2/3344.

He was also charged that on 20th October 2010, he conspired to defraud Caroline Wanjiru Njoroge Ksh. 60,000 after allegedly duping her into buying Plot No. 7 of Ruiru Parcel 3931.

The third count stated that they conned Evans Karanja Thiong’o of Ksh. 150,000 in pretext of selling Plot No. 2 Ruiru/Ruiru East Block 2/2076.

Presiding Judge Principal Magistrate Benson Ireri released him on a cash bond of sh. 300,000 and an assurity of the same amount for the three counts.

Njogu was represented by Lawyer Mwaura Wanyoike with the prosecution led by Prosecution Counsel Aswani Dorothy.

He will appear in court on the 26th of January 2017 for the mention of the case and hearing is scheduled for the 27th and 30th of March 2017.
