A sombre mood engulfed Karuku Village, Gacharage in Kandara Constituency after the lifeless body of a 10 year old girl was retrieved from a 100 metre deep borehole.

Margaret Wanjiku Wanjiru, a Standard Two pupil from Gacharage Primary School, was reported missing on Wednesday the 28th of September 2016 on her way home after school. It is alleged that she was abducted by unknown people who are suspected to have first raped her before killing her and dumping her body into the pit, a few metres from their home.

They alleged that this might be a case of witchcraft or devil worship as the killers claimed that they were in a mission to sacrifice seven children and Wanjiku’s case was the first in line.

“This beastly has shocked us all. These people must be devil worshippers for they are saying that Wanjiku is just the first of the seven children they plan to sacrifice. But we believe in the living God and these people will definitely face God’s wrath. We are however worried because such acts have become so common these days. We suspect that drug abuse might be also be a cause,” said one man.

Wanjiku’s body was discovered after the perpetrators dropped a letter near the child’s home detailing facts of how they would locate her body. They dropped her school books at intervals leading to the borehole where the body was found.
