President William Ruto joined world leaders at the G7 Summit in France, using the global forum to advocate for Africa's economic interests, climate justice, and reforms to international financial institutions.

The summit, which brought together leaders of the world's largest economies and invited partner nations, focused on pressing global challenges including economic growth, climate change, security, and sustainable development.

Speaking on the sidelines of the summit, President Ruto emphasized the need for a fairer global financial system that allows developing countries to access affordable financing for development and climate adaptation projects. He argued that African nations, despite contributing the least to global carbon emissions, continue to bear the brunt of climate-related disasters such as droughts, floods, and food insecurity.

Ruto also sought to strengthen Kenya's economic ties with key international partners by promoting trade, investment, and technology cooperation. Kenya has increasingly positioned itself as a regional economic powerhouse and a leader in renewable energy, making it an attractive destination for foreign investment.

The President's participation comes at a time when African countries are seeking a stronger voice in global decision-making processes. Analysts say the summit offers Kenya an opportunity to influence discussions on issues that directly affect the continent, including debt restructuring, climate financing, and economic transformation.

As the summit concluded, attention turned to whether commitments made by global leaders would translate into tangible benefits for developing nations. For Kenya, the focus remains on securing partnerships that can drive economic growth, create jobs, and support the country's long-term development goals.

President Ruto's presence at the summit highlights Kenya's growing influence in international affairs and its ambition to play a leading role in shaping conversations on Africa's future.
