Police in Mtwapa have arrested a man believed to be linked to a series of theft incidents after recovering several stolen gas cylinders during an operation targeting criminal hideouts in the area.

The suspect was apprehended after officers acted on intelligence reports and raided a location where the stolen items were allegedly being stored. During the operation, police recovered a number of gas cylinders suspected to have been stolen from homes and businesses in Mtwapa and nearby estates.

Investigators say the arrest is part of intensified efforts to dismantle criminal gangs that have been terrorizing residents through house break-ins and theft. Authorities are now pursuing other suspects believed to be connected to the same theft ring.

Police have called on residents who recently lost gas cylinders or related household items to visit the station and help identify the recovered property. The suspect remains in custody and is expected to be charged in court as investigations continue.
