Company Director Arrested Over Sh. 25 Million Land Fraud Attempt in Eastleigh

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters’ Land Fraud Investigations Unit (LFIU) have arrested a company director accused of attempting to unlawfully seize a prime parcel of land in Nairobi through forged documents.

The suspect, Abdul Hassan Tahalil, a Director of Skyline Works Ltd, is alleged to have orchestrated the preparation of false documents in a scheme targeting a property valued at approximately Sh. 25 million in Eastleigh’s Section One, 4th Street.

According to investigators, the case was reported by the rightful owner, who stated that she legally purchased the land on December 10, 1966, for Sh. 56,000. Despite holding legitimate ownership documents, she has recently faced persistent attempts by individuals, including Tahalil, to take over the property.

The repeated claims over the land raised alarm, prompting authorities to launch a detailed investigation into the matter.

Detectives from the LFIU say they uncovered substantial evidence linking Skyline Works Ltd and its directors to a coordinated fraud scheme involving the creation and use of falsified documents in an attempt to claim ownership of the property.

Upon completion of the investigations, the case file was forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) for review.

After examining the evidence, the ODPP concurred with investigators and approved charges against Tahalil for the offence of making false documents.

He was arrested and is currently in custody undergoing processing ahead of his arraignment in court.

The incident adds to a growing number of land fraud cases targeting long-held properties, with authorities warning that fraudsters are increasingly using forged documents to lay claim to valuable land.
