Millions Paid Out as UFAA Brings Unclaimed Assets Drive to Thika Stadium
Hundreds of residents have since Monday, 24th November 2025, turned up at Thika Stadium to verify and claim assets belonging to themselves, their parents or deceased relatives during a five-day outreach organised by the Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA).
The exercise, led by UFAA Chief Executive Officer Laban Molonko, brings together multiple service providers to fast-track verification, documentation and claims processing.
Molonko revealed that UFAA is currently holding more than Ksh. 67 billion in unclaimed assets, Ksh. 44 billion in cash and Ksh. 23 billion in shares — awaiting collection by rightful owners. He added that over Ksh. 2 million has already been disbursed to beneficiaries within the first two days, with more payouts expected as the outreach continues.

Among those benefiting was Joseph Karanja, who accompanied his elderly father and discovered through the UFAA system that the father had unclaimed funds, prompting an immediate application.
The outreach runs at Thika Stadium until Friday, 28th November, and residents in and around Thika are encouraged to attend and check whether they have unclaimed financial assets.
