Former Thika Land Registrar–Turned Pastor Charged in Ksh. 8 Million Land Fraud Case
A former Thika Municipality Land Registrar, Irene Njambi Nyaga Kamau, now serving as a pastor at Jehovah Shammah Revival Church, is facing two criminal counts at the Thika Law Courts in connection with alleged land fraud.
Nyaga has been charged with conspiracy to defraud and abuse of office, offences prosecutors say occurred during her tenure as a land registrar, before she left government service to pursue full-time ministry.
According to court documents, she is accused of attempting to fraudulently transfer a Makongeni parcel of land, registered as TMB24/545 and valued at about Ksh. 8 million, from its owner, Joseph Kung’u Njoroge, to another individual, Titus Ng’ang’a Mwangi.
The prosecution alleges the attempted transfer took place on or before July 22, 2012, and was intended to unlawfully dispossess the rightful owner.
The cleric, who refers to herself as a prophetess, has made several court appearances since 2023 and has maintained her innocence throughout the proceedings.
The matter is scheduled for mention on January 28, 2026.
