IEBC Announces Date for Scheduled By-Elections
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially set Thursday, 27th November 2025 as the date for all scheduled by-elections across the country.
In a public notice issued today, the commission confirmed that preparations are underway to ensure the polls are conducted in accordance with the Constitution and electoral laws. The by-elections are expected to fill vacancies in various constituencies, wards, and other electoral areas following resignations, nullifications, or deaths of sitting representatives.
IEBC Chairperson emphasized that the commission is committed to transparency, credibility, and adherence to electoral timelines. “We are fully prepared to deliver a free, fair, and verifiable election process. We call on all stakeholders to cooperate and uphold peace before, during, and after the by-elections,” the statement read in part.
The commission will soon release a detailed election timetable, including nomination dates for candidates, campaign periods, and specific polling stations for each affected electoral area. Voter education and awareness campaigns will also be rolled out in the coming weeks to ensure citizens are informed about their rights and responsibilities during the by-elections.
By-elections provide an opportunity for voters to choose new representatives who will complete the remaining term of office until the next General Election. The IEBC has urged eligible voters to turn up in large numbers to exercise their democratic right.
