Kiambu Assembly pass the Supplementary Budget II of 2024/25 and the related Appropriation Bill
Kiambu County Assembly has passed the Supplementary Budget II of 2024/25 and the related Appropriation Bill.
The supplementary budget adjusts the expenditure to allocate additional funding to various sectors and initiatives to facilitate development and cover for unforeseen circumstances in the budget.
While laying the report of the Budget and Appropriations Committee (BAC) at the floor of the house, the Chairperson, Nduta Muongi (MCA Limuru Central Ward) said that the supplementary budget II has been occasioned by some factors including downward adjustment of Own Source Revenue (OSR).
“To also align revenues from the National Government as provided for in the County Government Additional Allocations Act (CGAAA), 2025 and the need to address emerging priorities for which allocations were either not provided or were inadequately provided,” she said.
She added that the committee report gave consideration to all the involved stakeholders including the County Executive and the County Assembly.
“The Committee invited the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for the Department of Finance, ICT and Economic Planning to respond to concerns raised during the interrogation of the Supplementary No. II Budget Estimates 2024-2025.”
The MCA noted that early last year, the Senate revised the Assembly ceiling and therefore the second supplementary seeks to adjust the budget to cater for the unforeseen.
The MCAs also passed the Appropriation Bill. The bill is aimed at providing the legal framework for the disbursement of funds allocated in the supplementary budget.
