Suspect lynched in Witeithie Estate in early morning incident

A suspected motorbike thief was early this morning lynched at Witeithie estate in Juja Sub-County.

It is alleged that the deceased and his accomplice who managed to escape on the bike, had violently robbed off a rider in Meru last night and were being pursued by bodaboda operators from Meru.

He was cornered as he attempted to flee on foot after jumping from the moving bike near Witeithie.

The irate bodaboda riders pounced on him and beat him with crude weapons before eventually setting him ablaze.

Incidents of insecurity are on the rise in the area despite efforts by the authorities to contain them. Bikes stolen locally are said to be sold in other counties while those stolen from elsewhere find their market in Kiambu and environs.

By the time of going to press, the body of the deceased body was yet to be collected by the police.
