Kiambu Leaders Subscribe Kabogo To Deputise Ruto in 2022.

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has earned a magnificent approval from a section of MCAs to deputise DP William Ruto in the 2022 general election.

Several MCAs from the region said that Kabogo was the most established politician who could best represent the people of Central Kenya after the exit of President Uhuru Kenyatta therefore was the best candidate as Ruto's running mate.

Speaking on Friday at Gatukuyu Trading Centre in Gatundu North, MCAs Kimani Gachihi of Mang'u, Ng’ang’a Wamuthua of Kamwangi and Chege Wanjiru of Gitothua said Kabogo had managed to contain stiff opposition from some ward representatives and MPs to hold Kiambu intact.

“Kabogo is the best suited person to lead Central Kenya after Uhuru because there’s no one who can lead better than him. Even his political nemesis can attest to this,” Gachihi said.

Gachihi added that KCG1 had managed bring harmony in the county assembly and minimised chaos, a clear indication he would be a unifying factor of the Central Kenya communities.

“We believe from his leadership traits over the years since he was Juja MP, Central Kenya people will allow him to represent them in the next regimes. There’s nothing wrong if he deputises Ruto in 2022,” he said.

On his part, Wamuthua said the Central region required a fearless leader like Kabogo who withstand political attacks from key opposition leaders.

“Like Uhuru, Governor Kabogo will be able to face the opposition, resist criticism and safeguard the interests of Central Kenya people. We all know he is fearless,” he said.

Wanjiru urged MPs to start grooming Kabogo for kingpinship, saying Ruto will have to pick a running mate from Central Kenya.

The endorsement comes days after another section of Kiambu MCAs led by the deputy speaker Mr Anthony Macharia endorsed him for the same seat claiming that Kabogo was the senior most politician in the region.

Mr. Macharia, who is the MCA for the Bibirioni Ward was addressing farmers at Kimende in Lari Constituency earlier this month and indicated that in any case the area will be supporting the Deputy President in his presidency during the 2022 elections then the only leader who is fit for his deputy will be Kabogo.

“If the region will elect Ruto as President, then Kabogo will have to be his deputy,” he said.

This comes in the wake of recent revelations by President Uhuru Kenyatta in a meeting with Central leaders in Nyeri, that the reason he avoided Kiambu County was because of the endless fights between Governor Kabogo and Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu.

The two have been embroiled in public outbursts ever since declared his interest to challenge Kabogo for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat come 2017.
