IT IS SIX MONTHS FOR MAN CAUGHT STEALING 7 PINEAPPLES.

A Thika based court has jailed middle aged man for six months after he was caught stealing seven pineapples worth Sh 420.

Stephen Murigi Njoroge stole the pineapples from a Del Monte farm in Gatanga Constituency, Murang'a County on Monday evening.

According to the evidence provided before Senior Principal Magistrate, Geoffrey Onsarigo, Murigi is said to have sneaked into a farm that belongs to Del Monte only to emerge with pineapples in a polythene bag. A gourd manning the farm spotted him and ordered him to stop. When requested to show the contents in his polythene bag, Murigi declined and attempted to run away.

His proverbial 40 days were over since his attempt to escape were thwarted when the gourd raised alarm prompting Murigi to be cornered and arrested.

The father of three pleaded guilty to the charges claiming that he was jobless and needed money to take his children back to school. And with the prevailing hard times in January, he got tempted to seek the easier way. He pleaded for leniency just for the sake of his family which solely depended on him.

However, Judge Onsarigo jailed him for six months.
