Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi is accusing officers from Thika of leading a cartel that is spearheading rampant land grabbing in his constituency. Mwangangi said that the cartel is colluding with land officers from Thika and Machakos towns to deprive residents of their ancestral land using fake title deeds.

He added that the cartel was taking advantage of the fact that many residents did not have title deeds. Mwangangi said the land and AP officers helping the cartel to acquire fake title deeds should be investigated and charged. He called for the transfer of all Land officers in Thika and Machakos towns.

According to the legislator, the most affected areas are Kivingoni and Mavoloni in Ndalani location and some parts of Kithimani location. He warned landowners a the Yatta Canal to stop selling their parcels.

“It has come to my attention there has been an influx of people from other communities wanting to buy land along the canal since we began its construction this year,” Mwangangi said.
