KEROSENE, DIESEL PRICES DROP
The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has brought down the prices of Diesel and Kerosene in this month's pump prices review. The prices of Diesel went down by Ksh 3.36 per litre to trade at Ksh 79.99 in Nairobi while Kerosene goes down by Ksh 5.43 to retail at Ksh 52.55 per litre in Nairobi.
However, the price of Super Petrol remains unchanged and will continue trading at Ksh 102.65 per litre.
According to ERC Director General Joseph Ng’ang’a, the new prices took account of the 1.80% depreciation rate of the shilling against the dollar. ERC further says that the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol went down by 4.44% from USD 727.97 in July to USD 695.68 in August this year.
On the other hand, the average landed cost of Diesel and Kerosene went down by 11.43% and 13.21% respectively to stand at USD 492.95 per ton for Diesel and USD 474.35 per ton for Kerosene.
ERC has warned oil traders against selling fuel beyond the recommended prices saying that any dealer found inflating the prices risks having their licenses withdrawn and paying a hefty fine.
