SUSPECT ARRESTED WITH 35 CARTONS OF ILLICIT BREWS IN SECTION 9

Biashara Location chief in Thika Town Simon Kamau last Saturday led a contingent of police officers to a house in Section Nine Estate where they confiscated 35 cartons of second generation spirits. He said that he acted following a tip off from members of the public who stated that the owner had been hiding the brews in the house.

“We found 35 cartons of second generation spirits in a house in Section 9. The suspect has been selling them from here now that the crackdown for all second generation spirits in bars has intensified ,” he said.

He added that the suspect had crafted his trade cunningly because nobody would have suspected him of selling it in the house because the estate is inhabited by the wealthy in Thika.

“Nobody could have suspected that this liquor was being sold here. Section Nine Estate is for the wealthy in Thika and you don’t expect to find illicit liquor here,” he said.

He urged the public to share information with the local authorities on any place where illicit liquor is being sold.

Thika was among the towns most affected by illicit liquor purge as it had 10 industries manufacturing second generation spirits.
