ONE PERSON DEAD AS THIKA-BOUND MATATU LANDS IN A DITCH.

One person died yesterday morning after the vehicle in which they were travelling landed in a ditch near the Kahawa Baracks, along the Thika Super Highway. Thirteen survivors are nursing injuries in hospital.

The matatu, belonging to KAMUNA SACCO, was ferrying passengers to THIKA TOWN when it landed into a ditch. The driver lost control of the vehicle as he was trying to avoid hitting a boda boda rider.

One passenger died on the spot while 13 were injured and were rushed to St. Francis hospital, Kasarani but were later referred to the Kenyatta National Hospital where they are receiving treatment. Among the injured is the driver of the Matatu.

Witnesses however blame the driver for speeding.
