KABOGO LAUNCHES SLUM UPGRADE, REGISTRATION PROGRAMME IN KIANDUTU

Kiambu Governor William Kabogo yesterday launched a county-wide registration of people living in informal settlements /slums in Kiandutu slums that will see residents of Kiandutu, Kamae, Kiamburi and all the other slums across the county registered. The move is geared towards sensitizing the residents on a variety of issues among them security, employment and entrepreneurship. The project, a partnership with Muungano wa Wanavijiji and the Slum Dwellers International, aims at constructing public toilets and improving on housing.
The county boss said that the county had  great potential of improving its economic status of its people. He lauded the Nyumba Kumi initiative for the transformation of Kiandutu slums, which he said, had a long history of criminal activity and insecurity, factor that hindered development in the area. He reiterated that his government was keen on improving the lives of slum dwellers.
