Water Supply Disruptions Hit Parts of Thika Over Pipeline Damage
Residents in several parts of Thika experienced water supply interruptions on June 4, 2026, following damage to key water pipelines, the Thika Water and Sewerage Company (THIWASCO) has announced.
In a public notice issued on Thursday - June 4, 2026, the utility company attributed the disruptions to ongoing roadworks and infrastructure damage affecting major supply lines.
According to THIWASCO, areas including Ngoingwa, Elders, Githima and Tola were affected after road construction works damaged multiple pipelines near the Elders area and Ngoingwa Catholic Church.
The company indicated that repairs in these areas were expected to be completed by 5:00pm today.
A separate interruption was reported in the Broadways area, affecting Broadways Industries, East African Paper Mills, Nanasi Estate and adjacent neighborhoods due to damage to a DN150mm pipeline.
THIWASCO stated that restoration of water supply in the affected industrial and residential areas was expected by 8:00pm.
“We advise all our customers to reserve and use the available water sparingly as we work to repair the damaged lines,” the notice read.
The utility assured residents that normal water supply would resume once repair works were completed.
THIWASCO also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and urged customers to remain patient as technical teams worked to restore services.
Customers seeking further information were advised to contact the company’s customer service lines.
