Two Suspects Arrested as Police Recover Suspected Stolen Motorcycles and Spare Parts
Police in Witeithie, Juja Sub-County have arrested two suspects after recovering a motorcycle believed to have been stolen and several motorcycle parts suspected to have been stripped from stolen bikes.
The suspects, Michael Mbuthia Macharia and Lucas Maina Wanjiku, were apprehended in Milimani Village, Nyacaba Sub-Location during a police operation targeting suspected motorcycle theft activities in the area.
According to police, the two were found in possession of a motorcycle suspected to have been stolen, along with assorted motorcycle parts believed to have originated from vandalized or dismantled motorcycles.
Following the arrest, several motorcycle owners reportedly visited the scene and identified some of the recovered parts as belonging to their stolen motorcycles.
Among the items recovered was a motorcycle that had been reported stolen in Gatunyu, Gatanga, as well as parts believed to be linked to another motorcycle stolen along Kenyatta Road in Juja.
The suspects are currently being held at Witeithie Police Station, where they are assisting detectives with investigations.
Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspected motorcycle theft network, including whether the two suspects were operating independently or as part of a larger syndicate involved in stealing, dismantling, and selling motorcycle parts.
Authorities are also working to trace additional victims and recover more stolen property.
Members of the public who have recently lost motorcycles or motorcycle spare parts have been urged to report to Witeithie Police Station to help identify recovered items and assist with ongoing investigations.
Motorcycle theft has remained a major concern in several parts of Kiambu County, with criminals often targeting motorcycles for resale, use in criminal activities or dismantling them for spare parts. Police have assured residents that efforts to dismantle such criminal networks will continue.
