Residents Have Just 3 Days to Speak Up Before Kiambu Decides Where The Billions Will Go

Residents of Kiambu County have been invited to submit their views and development priorities as the County Assembly begins public participation on the proposed 2026/2027 Budget Estimates.

The exercise, organised by the County Assembly's Budget and Appropriations Committee, is aimed at giving wananchi an opportunity to influence how county resources will be allocated in the next financial year.

According to the County Assembly, the public participation process is anchored in Article 196(1)(b) of the Constitution, which requires county assemblies to facilitate public involvement in their legislative and oversight functions.

The Assembly noted that the proposed Revenue and Expenditure Estimates for the 2026/2027 financial year are currently under consideration by the Budget and Appropriations Committee. As a result, members of the public, civil society organisations, faith-based groups, private sector stakeholders and other interested parties have been invited to present their views and recommendations.

The forums are intended to collect public opinions on priority projects, service delivery needs and development programmes that residents would like incorporated into the county budget.

Public participation forums will be held at the sub-county level between June 8 and June 10, 2026, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
