Family Seeks Justice After Student is Stabbed to Death by Girlfriend in Witeithie

A family from Makueni County is demanding justice following the death of their son, Elvis Kivuitu, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend in Witeithie, Juja Sub-county, last week.

According to the deceased's uncle, Paul Mutavi, Kivuitu and his lover, who were both college students in Thika, got into a disagreement before the confrontation turned violent. Kivuitu sustained serious stab wounds and was rushed to hospital for treatment. However, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect was arrested and subsequently arraigned before the Thika Law Courts, where detectives sought custodial orders to allow them to complete investigations into the incident. The court granted the application, allowing police to detain the suspect for 21 days as investigations continue.

Speaking at Juja Police Station, Mutavi said the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss, describing Kivuitu as a promising young man whose life had been cut short in a painful and tragic manner.

We are heartbroken by what happened. We only want justice for our son and for the law to take its course,” said Mutavi.

We have no grudge against her family. What we want is for justice to be served through the legal process, he said.

The incident has left both families and residents of Witeithie in shock as detectives continue investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal stabbing.
