Kenya and France have reaffirmed their strong and growing partnership, built on shared values and mutual interests, as the two nations deepen cooperation across key sectors of the economy.
In a meeting held at State House, Nairobi, President William Ruto hosted the French Ambassador to Kenya, Arnaud Suquet, where discussions focused on expanding bilateral ties and enhancing collaboration in areas that directly impact economic growth and development.
France continues to stand out as one of Kenya’s leading investors, with both countries now prioritizing joint initiatives in green industrialization, the blue economy, agriculture, health, digital innovation, infrastructure, and education. These sectors are seen as critical in unlocking new opportunities and improving livelihoods for citizens in both nations.
A key highlight of the meeting was the preparation for the upcoming Africa Forward Summit, scheduled to take place in Nairobi on May 11–12. This will mark the first time the summit is being hosted in a non-Francophone country, signaling a major step in expanding its inclusivity and continental relevance. Leaders are expected to deliberate on pressing global and regional issues, including reforms to the international financial system and the strengthening of secure, sustainable economic partnerships.
The leaders also discussed the forthcoming G7 Summit, where Kenya has been invited by French President Emmanuel Macron. The summit, coming shortly after the Africa Forward Summit, presents a strategic platform for Kenya to champion Africa’s priorities on the global stage and ensure stronger alignment between regional concerns and international decision-making.
The engagement underscores Kenya’s growing influence in global diplomacy and its commitment to fostering partnerships that drive sustainable development.
