President William Ruto during the launch of the Sh235 million NYOTA programme in Eldoret, where thousands are set to receive Sh25,000 startup capital to grow their businesses.

President William Ruto has launched the Sh235 million NYOTA programme in the Rift Valley, providing a financial boost to 9,423 youth entrepreneurs across six counties.

The funds will benefit young people in Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Turkana and West Pokot, with each beneficiary receiving Sh25,000 to start or grow small businesses.

Out of the amount, Sh22,000 will be sent to the Pochi La Biashara wallet for business use, while Sh3,000 will be saved under the NSSF Haba Na Haba scheme, encouraging a savings culture among the youth.

Speaking during the launch in Eldoret, President Ruto said the programme is aimed at reducing youth unemployment by supporting enterprise development through funding, training and mentorship.

The World Bank–supported NYOTA programme targets unemployed and vulnerable youth nationwide, with the Rift Valley rollout forming part of a broader countrywide disbursement.
