Murang’a County, Capwell Industries Sign Landmark Deal With Big Implications for Farmers

The Murang’a County Government has signed a partnership agreement with Capwell Industries Limited aimed at strengthening market access for local maize farmers and improving the stability of the maize value chain.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Murang’a maize farmers will gain easier and more reliable access to the market, enabling them to earn more predictable incomes while significantly reducing post-harvest losses. In return, Capwell Industries will benefit from a steady and dependable supply of maize, helping to stabilise its production processes.

The partnership forms part of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) Agriculture for Industry (A4I) initiative, which promotes innovative collaborations between producers and manufacturers. The programme seeks to build a seamless ecosystem where farmers and industry players can connect directly, transact efficiently and create shared value.

The agreement was officially signed by Mr. Rajan Shah, Immediate Former Chair of the KAM Board and Chief Executive Officer of Capwell Industries, and Murang’a Governor Dr. Irungu Kang’ata. The signing ceremony was witnessed by KAM Chief Executive Officer Tobias Alando.

County officials said the collaboration is expected to empower farmers by linking them directly to industry players, while strengthening Murang’a’s agricultural economy through value-driven partnerships.
