Edwin Sifuna: I Will Not Be the One to Wreck ODM, I Promised Raila

ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna speaks during a past political event, reaffirming his loyalty to the party and its leader Raila Odinga.

ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna has dismissed claims that he is undermining the Orange Democratic Movement, insisting his actions are guided by loyalty to the party and respect for its leadership. Speaking amid growing internal debates within ODM, Sifuna said he had personally assured party leader Raila Odinga that he would not be the one to weaken or destroy the party.

Sifuna maintained that constructive criticism and internal debate should not be mistaken for rebellion, noting that strong parties thrive on open dialogue and adherence to democratic principles. He emphasized that ODM must remain anchored on its founding values of justice, accountability, and people-centered leadership.

The Nairobi Senator added that unity within ODM is crucial as the party prepares for future political contests, calling on members to resolve differences internally rather than through public confrontation. “ODM is bigger than any individual,” Sifuna said, reiterating his commitment to protect the party’s legacy and strengthen it for the next generation.
