Narok School Closed Indefinitely After Grade 9 Pupil Found Dead in Dormitory
A wave of shock and grief has engulfed Narok County after a Grade Nine pupil was found dead inside his school dormitory under mysterious circumstances.
The 14-year-old student at Narok Adventist Primary and Junior Secondary School was discovered by fellow learners on Saturday night, August 30, 2025, with a deep cut on his neck. Despite being rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Investigations by authorities revealed bloodstains smeared on a bench outside the dormitory, in the boys’ toilet, and near the clothesline raising suspicions that the attack may have occurred outside before the boy returned to his bed.
The disturbing discovery sparked outrage among parents and local residents, who stormed the school demanding answers over lax security. In one instance, a dormitory was set ablaze before security officials contained the situation. Parents further questioned the whereabouts of the school’s matron, caretakers, and guards at the time of the incident.
The Ministry of Education has since ordered the immediate closure of the institution to pave the way for investigations. Police confirmed that a suspect has been arrested and is assisting detectives, with the case now in the hands of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Narok County Education Director Apollo Apuko called for calm as investigations proceed, assuring parents that the government will ensure justice is served.
The incident has reignited concerns over student safety in boarding schools, with many parents demanding stricter security measures to prevent a recurrence of such tragedies.
