Rising strong: Construction of the Modern Vehicle Inspection Centre in Makongeni, Thika continues, laying the foundation for the largest NTSA facility in East and Central Africa. |
Construction of the Modern Vehicle Inspection Centre at Makongeni, Thika, is progressing steadily as workers race against time to complete the state-of-the-art NTSA facility. The project, once finalized, will become the largest of its kind in East and Central Africa.
The facility is designed to expand inspection capacity from the current 200 vehicles to over 1,000 vehicles daily. It will be equipped with advanced technology, including driving simulators to test drivers’ skills, refresher course programs, and modern diagnostic tools to ensure safer and roadworthy vehicles on Kenyan roads.
Thika Town Member of Parliament, Hon. Alice Ng’ang’a, has been at the forefront of advocating for this landmark development, which is expected to bring efficiency, create jobs, and improve road safety.
“This project is not just about Thika; it is about transforming road safety standards across the country and the region. We are proud to host such a monumental facility here in Thika,” Hon. Alice Ng’ang’a said.
The centre is also expected to decongest existing NTSA inspection facilities, which have been overwhelmed by demand, leading to long delays for motorists. Once operational, it will serve as a regional hub, setting new benchmarks in vehicle testing and driver training.
Residents have welcomed the project, noting that it will boost Thika’s profile as an industrial and economic hub. Many see it as a major win for the constituency, thanks to Hon. Alice Ng’ang’a’s efforts to attract such a transformative development.
With construction works visibly advancing, anticipation is high that the facility will soon be complete, ushering in a new era of modern, efficient, and safe vehicle inspection services in Kenya.
