Governor Wamatangi mourns the death of his sister Winnie Nyambura
Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi is mourning the death of his sister, Winnie Peninah Nyambura.
In an emotional message shared on his Facebook page on Friday, September 5, the governor announced her passing, choosing not to disclose the cause of death but instead reflecting on the pain of loss and the comfort of faith.
“Death is cruel. It takes from us the people we love and cherish, leaving a hurting void. But we have to accept the will of God because it’s in Him we take comfort during such times. Rest in eternal peace, my sister, Winnie Peninah Nyambura. As a family, we cherish the times God allowed us to be together. Go well, Winnie,” wrote Wamatangi.
His message drew an outpouring of condolences from leaders and Kenyans across the country. President William Ruto led in consoling the governor and his family, assuring them of his thoughts and prayers.
“May the Lord grant Governor Kimani Wamatangi strength to bear with the loss of his dear sister, Winnie Nyambura,” the President said in a statement.
Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a also joined in comforting the governor.
“During this difficult time, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones. I pray that God gives you strength to navigate this painful journey of grief, and may Winnie’s soul rest in everlasting peace,” she said in her condolence message.
The Wamatangi family is yet to announce funeral arrangements.
