Capwell Industries shines at 2025 Kenya Millers Fortification Index Awards


Capwell Industries Limited emerged as one of the biggest winner at this year’s Kenya Millers Fortification Index (KMFI) Annual Awards, taking top positions in multiple categories that recognised excellence in innovation through food fortification and business processes under the assessment criteria.

The Thika-based company was honored with the Innovation award for being the first company to fortify rice in Kenya, under the Pearl brand, living up to its vision of “bringing fulfillment to consumers by providing nutritious, safe, and convenient foods.”

The company also holds the distinction of being the first miller in the country to fortify maize flour, even before food fortification was made mandatory.

Capwell also clinched first place in people management system, production and continuous Improvement as well as public engagement, underscoring the company’s commitment to quality,  effective management of its fortification processes, efficient communication and stakeholder engagement, ranging from advertising and labeling to regulatory reporting, sponsorships and advocacy efforts. Together, these awards reflect the company’s robust systems for maintaining rigorous production oversight and ensuring consistent quality in fortified products.


The Kenya Millers Fortification Index, spearheaded by the Cereal Millers Association (CMA), is an innovative self-regulation framework that allows millers to benchmark their practices against industry standards. It evaluates key areas under the 4PG pillars: People Management Systems, Production and Continuous Improvement, Procurement and Inputs Management and Public Engagement. By voluntarily participating, millers demonstrate their commitment to quality, transparency, and consumer well-being.

Capwell Industries, one of Kenya’s most diversified food processors, continues to make its mark with household brands such as Soko, Amaize, Pearl, CIL, Ranee, Yola and Treatos. From maize and wheat flour to rice, porridge flour, beverages and confectionery, the company has remained at the forefront of innovation and nutrition.

Speaking after the awards ceremony held in Nairobi, the company noted that the recognitions affirm its role as a pioneer in fortification and a trusted provider of safe, nutritious foods for Kenyan families and beyond.
