Ex-police officer kills wife over infidelity suspicion, then rapes househelp
Police in Nairobi are investigating a chilling case in which a former police officer allegedly murdered his wife before raping their househelp in Pipeline estate.
The victim, 27-year-old Susan Nabwire, a mother of one and an M-Pesa agent at Machakos Country Bus, was attacked in the early hours of August 13, 2025, inside her rented house in the Kware area.
According to the househelp, the suspect, 44-year-old Cyprian Mukoye, had earlier quarreled with his wife, demanding her phone, passwords and M-Pesa PIN after suspecting that his wife was having an affair.
“They started arguing and he slapped Susan, asking for her cellphone. He then threatened her that if she wouldn’t give him the PIN, he would kill her,” said Philice Makokha, the mother to the deceased.
According to the househelp, the deceased declined to obey her husband's demands and everything seemed to have returned to normalcy, until Mukoye woke up at around 3am.
“The wife refused to give him the PIN number and he went to the bedroom. Akatoa nguo akajipiga picha then akaanza kuambia mke wake atoe nguo aje wajipige picha pia,” narrated the househelp.
At about 3am, Mukoye allegedly fetched an axe from the bathroom, slashed Nabwire on the neck, strangled and stabbed her multiple times before shoving her body under the bed, all in the presence of their one-year-old child.
“Walipigana usiku na Susan, baadaye aliingia bafuni na kuleta shoka. Alimkata na shoka kwa shingo alafu baadaye akamkata hapa kichwa. Kisha akaenda akachukua kamba akaanza kumnyonga nayo; akachukua kisu akaanza kumdunga karibu na macho akisema kuwa atamuua akiona,” Makokha added.
The suspect then turned on the family’s househelp, raping her and threatening to kill her.
“He told me I would die like mama mtoto if I refused. I was terrified. I thought that was my last night alive,” the shaken househelp told police.
Mukoye later locked the househelp, the baby, and his wife’s body inside the house before fleeing with the family’s mobile phones.
Neighbours raised the alarm, forcing police to break down the door, where they discovered the gruesome scene. Nabwire’s body was taken to Mama Lucy Hospital Mortuary, while the househelp recorded her statement with detectives.
After a 10-day manhunt, officers arrested the suspect on Saturday, August 23 and he is currently being held at Embakasi Police Station as investigations continue.
God forbid.
