PS Bitok Orders Immediate Arrest of Alliance Girls Teacher Accused of Sexual Abuse
Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok has called for the swift arrest and prosecution of a teacher from Alliance Girls High School accused of grooming and sexually exploiting students.
Speaking during a Thanksgiving event at Kapkoros Barngetuny Secondary in Nandi County, Bitok confirmed that the Ministry of Education is working with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and police to ensure the teacher is interdicted and brought to justice.
“That teacher is going to be punished. We’ve talked to TSC and other agencies to ensure he is arrested,” said Bitok.
The PS strongly condemned the teacher’s actions, emphasizing the government’s zero tolerance for sexual abuse in schools.
“We will not condone any behaviour where teachers take advantage of learners. This conduct is unacceptable, and it must stop in every school, not just Alliance,” he said.
The remarks follow an explosive Africa Uncensored exposé detailing years of alleged abuse by the teacher, a Christian Union patron, dating back to 2018. Former students and staff accused him of grooming girls using spiritual manipulation, with prior complaints in 2018 and 2021 reportedly ignored.
The revelations have sparked national outrage, with Alliance Girls alumni protesting and women’s rights group FIDA Kenya demanding action. FIDA described the case as a “shocking” example of institutional failure and is calling for safe reporting systems and stronger protections for students in all schools.
