Thika Police say Judiciary lenient penalties frustrating fight against illegal drugs, crime
Thika West Sub-County Police Commander (formerly OCPD) Daniel Kinyua has appealed to the Judiciary to impose heavy penalties on drug traffickers and criminals in order to win the battle against these vices.
Speaking during the new year party by Makongeni Police officers, the OCPD blamed the lenient fines and bonds extended to these criminals for recurrence of the vice. These small fines and bond given to these criminals in court have deterred the police in the fight against crime since the culprits pay these fines and come straight back to the trade. Some of them have more than 5 cases pending in court and are out here continuing with their illegal business," said Kinyua.
