Woman whose body was found stashed in a suitcase identified


The body of a woman who on Monday, January 17, 2022 was found in a stashed inside a suitcase outside the GSU Recce station in Ruiru has been identified.

Police sources indicated that the woman was identified as Esther Wambui worked as a waitress at a hotel in Ruiru where she received a daily pay of Sh300.

It is suspected that the 18-year old had marital woes with her lover who has since been questioned over her disappearance and murder. He has however denied any involvement and that insisted he loved his wife.

The deceased’s body was found wrapped in a nylon sack and stashed in a black suitcase outside the GSU Recce station. Her hands were tied at the back while her legs were bound together using a manila rope and a nylon string tied around her neck.

Her body had ink writings on the chest, both palms and both thighs which read “Bwana ya mtu ni sumu" (Someone's husband is poison), a message written using a blue permanent marker pen. She also had a deep cut injury on her left breast.

A post mortem examination shows that the deceased was strangled and was also hit with a blunt object on her head leading to her death.
