461 primary schools in Kiambu already connected to the national grid.
The Kiambu County Development
Implementation Committee (CDICC) will next week visit Thika East and West sub-counties
to inspect various projects which include roads that are under the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA),
the Ndula-Magongoni Irrigation project and Komo irrigation project.
This was revealed during a CDICC
meeting in Kiambu on Thursday chaired by the County commissioner Wilson
Wanyanga.
During the meeting, it was also revealed
that the Kenya Power Company had already connected 461 primary schools in the county
to the national grid to the tune of sh. 2.9 million with Munyaka Theta Primary
School in Juja Sub-County being the only exception, being a fairly a new school.
However, the Rural Electrification
Authority (REA) is scheduled to complete this connection latest in September.
Within a span of one year, Kiambu has
also benefitted with floodlight masts 165 and 2, 390 streetlights installed at
a cost sh. 510 million.
