MKU Appointed Kenya's Ambassador Of EA Integration.
Mt Kenya University has been appointed Kenya’s ambassador of
East African Integration by the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). The university has also become the first
institution of higher learning to fly the EAC flag in an event that was held at
their Indoor Games Arena on Monday, where nine EALA members facilitated a
public lecture on East African Integration.
Hon. Sarah Godana, a member of EALA, pinned a badge on the
lapel to Vice Chancellor Prof Stanley Waudo as he formally received the
accreditation on behalf of the university.
Prof. Waudo also received EALA Quarterly Report Magazine
from EALA member Joseph Kiangoi, the EAC flag from members of EALA Nancy Abisai
and the Treaty of Establishment of EAC from Yves Nsabimana of Burundi.
EALA is the legislative arm of EAC sitting in Arusha with
members from all the six member states whose main aim is to discuss matters
pertaining to the EAC and make recommendations to the summit which consists of
the heads of member states for action.
They also have a university council of the EAC aimed at
benefiting these institutions with vast wealth of information in the
legislative assembly and take advantage of the opportunities in EALA Youth
Council. Kenyan universities have been encouraged to start clubs that would
eventually lead to that goal.
