Four Kiambu County Employees were on Wednesday  arraigned  at the Kiambu Law Courts charged with with conspiracy to steal Sh.18 million from the county on December 15th last year. Nancy Njeri, Simon Mutundura Henry Mburu and Charles Macharia all denied the charges and were released on a sh.4 million bond each or a sh.2 million cash bail pending the hearing of the case on April 16.

The four were working in the the county Finance Department.

This comes as the county grapples with numerous reports of theft running into millions in various dockets. Of late, several county officials have also been in the corruption field according to a report by the EACC.

On Wednesday, Kiambu Governor William Kabogo while speaking to the press from his office said that he will not tolerate anyone involved in graft.

“Corruption is expensive, bad and causes problems in the county because we are not able to give services to the people because of lack of funding. We have several new hospitals that we are building. We have water that we ought to give to the communities. We have agricultural services and roads which cost money that Kenyans are paying. The county will use all means to ensure the accused are brought to book to serve as a lesson to others, ” he said.

He said that with digital technology it will not be easy to defraud the county and urged Kiambu residents to work together to ensure the county is corruption-free.
