MAKONGENI RESIDENTS,BUSINESSMEN WARNED OF AN INCREASE IN VIOLENT ROBBERIES IN THE AREA.

Makongeni residents and business people have been warned of a new spate of robberies that has recently hit the place where thugs are waylaying people at night and violently robbing them. The worst affected are the business persons, especially the M-PESA agents and electronics dealers who sell till late in the evening.

One of the most recent cases involved a business lady who was waylaid at her shop behind CCI church, Makongeni. Two men pounced on her at around 7pm, robbed her off all the money and in the process stabbed her with a knife.



 Some quick response of neighbours led by Kamenu Ward 2017 aspirant Mr. Sammy Chege or MC Sam as he is popularly referd to saved her life. They rushed her to the nearby St.Mulumba Hospital where she was treated and discharged. Later on, MC Sam assisted her to report the incident at the Makongeni Police Station.

This incident came amid increased  cases of complaints of insecurity that included another attack on an M-PESA dealer near BAT the previous night by young men wielding some knives and a toy pistol. The police confirmed an increase robbery reports on their desk as we now apprached the festivities.

MC Sam advised Makongeni traders to take caution by reviewing their closing hours. He asked them to intensify personal caution and be more vigilant regarding to the security of their premises. He promised to arrange a meeting with the area OCS in order to come up with a cocreate  solution to the security situation in the estate especially now that thieves were looking for money to enjoy the Christmas Holidays.

He appealed for more police presence in Kamenu Ward saying that  they needed to intensify their patrols.
