International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Today is  International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

This year's theme: Inclusion matters: access and empowerment of people of all abilities
As we join the global community in observing the International Day of Disabled Persons by we would love to urge various arms of the government to re-emphasing their commitment to promote an understanding of disability issues by mobilizing support for their dignity, rights and well-being.
It is therefore equally important for various stakeholders and wellwishers to further increase the awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.

Since 2013,when the Jubilee government come into power several intiatives tailored towards empowering  Persons Living With Disabilities have being taken one such kind is the procurement act that allows PLWDs to be given at least 25% of government tenders.
We therefore want to take this opportunity to urge the government, members of the civil society, and the public at large to  help raise awareness of disability issues by promoting the full and effective participation of persons with disabilities in society.
Disability day is not concerned exclusively with either mental or physical disabilities but it also encompasses all known disabilities for instance autism, down syndrome, multiple sclerosis.
So let us support Persons Living With Disabilities.
