A section of Thika Town residents has hailed yesterday’s changes in government administrative and security personnel that saw several county commissioners and police commanders reshuffled. They expressed optimism that the incoming county commissioner, Alex Nkoyo will be able to bring sanity more in the area especially on security issues.

The new commissioner has been transfered  from Mandera County where he had to deal with major insecurity issues such as terrorism. With such an experience, they hoped expected him to deliver well.

Though insecurity has tremendously gone down in most parts of the district, there were a few areas that still faced security challenges.

Criminals were still roaming free in Thika town especially in Biafra and Majengo Estates where they were terrorising and mugging residents especially along the lower parts of the two estates. They hoped that the new commissioner addressed those few hick-ups.They pledged to work with him so as to eliminate criminal elements amongst themselves.

Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery on Wednesday announced administrative changes in the national police service to strengthen the war against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and cattle rustling. The deployment, affecting mainly major towns and cities, takes effect immediately and all officers are required to report to their new stations not later than Sept. 6.
