KIHIU MWIRI DIRECTORS SUMMONED TO CID HQS TOMORROW FOLLOWING A SPATE OF KILLINGS
Inspector General of Police Joseph
Boinnet, Muranga Governor Mwangi Wairia and acting Lands CS Fred Matiang'i
during a joint press conference in the county on Thursday.
Directors of trouble-ridden Kihiu
Mwiri land firm have been ordered to appear at CID Headquarters after the
killing of two members yesterday. Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet
said the company's current and past officials will be questioned in Nairobi at
9 am on Friday.
He spoke at a joint press conference
in Murang'a county, with acting Lands CS Fred Matiang'i and Governor Mwangi
Wairia, after a closed-door meeting over the issue.
Matiang'i said the ministry will
expedite the subdivision of the land in dispute and double to 100 the number of
arbitrators appointed to settle the issue.
To stop the bloodshed, Matiang’i
appointed a team two months ago to complete resurveying 1,082 acres and prepare
title deeds for the 6,000 shareholders by September 4.
Wairia condemned the killings and
said the process of issuing titles will be completed by September.
"This madness must stop. Enough
is enough!" he said on his twitter account on Thursday.
The deaths bring to 11 the number of shareholders and
directors who have been killed. Four others are missing.
The murders are suspected to have
been sparked by leadership wrangles after shareholders split into two rival
groups fighting for leadership.
