HELP US BUILD A MOSQUE, KIANDUTU MUSLIM PLEDGE TO COUNTY GOVT
A section of Muslim faithful in
Kiandutu slums have called on the county government to support them construct a
mosque in the area. The congregation has been worshiping under a tree in the
area for years and members are now raising funds to construct a mosque as their
numbers increase.
According to one of their leader
Salim Faki, the group has grown and it is no longer possible for them to
continue worshipping outside anymore.
Speaking when they met to raise
funds for the same project on Wednesday evening, Faki said that he is concerned
over the lack of a mosque in the area. He said Thika Town, Makongeni and Prison
mosques are far from Kiandutu and they cannot use them.
He called on the county government
of Kiambu to support them in their move to construct the mosque. Allegedly
during Ramadhan, the governor promised to support them.
The group says the county government
has incorporated some of them in all its operations as some have been nominated
for government posts.
