Woman Reported Missing Found Murdered Near Quarry in Thika's Biafra Estate
Residents of Biafra Estate in Thika are in shock after a woman who was reported missing on Tuesday was found murdered and her body dumped near a quarry close to River Chania.
According to neighbours, the woman, believed to be in her late 40s, had left home to tend to her farm located on the outskirts of the estate near the river. However, she failed to return home as expected, raising concern among family members and neighbours.
Efforts to reach her by phone were unsuccessful, prompting residents to organize a search party. The search continued into the evening, but by nightfall there was no sign of her.
On Wednesday morning, residents resumed the search and headed to the area where she had been farming. While combing through the site, they reportedly discovered traces of blood and signs suggesting that a struggle had taken place.
The residents followed the trail, which led them to a drainage ditch near River Chania, where they made the grim discovery of her body.
Witnesses said the body was partially naked, raising fears that she may have been sexually assaulted before being killed. She also had visible cuts and injuries on the head. Her mobile phone was later recovered a short distance from where the body was found.
The incident was reported to the police, who visited the scene together with crime scene investigators. Officers spent part of the afternoon processing the area and collecting evidence as investigations got underway.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear, and police have not yet identified or arrested any suspects.
Investigations are ongoing.
