Ruto Unveils Ksh. 750 million Nyacaba Projects, Pledges Ksh. 5 Million to Families of Hyena Attack Victims

President William Ruto, during a development tour of Nyacaba in Juja Constituency, Kiambu County on Friday March 27 2026, outlined a raft of projects aimed at improving education, healthcare, housing and infrastructure in the area.

Speaking at the Nyacaba Trading Centre in Witeithie Ward, the President announced that the government has already begun constructing eight new classrooms at Ndarugu Primary School. The project is expected to be completed within two months, by May this year, and will help decongest the school while reducing the distance children travel in search of education.

In addition, the government will invest Ksh. 120 million in expanding education infrastructure in Nyacaba. This will include the completion of the primary school, construction of 14 new classrooms for the secondary school, as well as a dining hall and an administration block.

On healthcare, President Ruto said a new hospital will be built in Nyacaba and completed within the next four months to improve access to medical services for residents. Altogether, the government plans to spend about Ksh. 750 million in Nyacaba on affordable housing, education and healthcare projects.

The projects, a modern integrated estate, includes Ndarugo Dispensary, Ndarugo Multi-purpose Hall, Ndarugo ECDE, Ndarugo Secondary School, administration block and Ndarugo Primary School.

The President also pledged to improve road connectivity in the area, announcing that the government will tarmac the 15-kilometre Nyacaba–Ndarugu road as well as the Kimbo–Matangi-ini road, which he described as the “heartbeat” of Juja due to its economic importance. He said the tender for the roads will be announced on Tuesday next week, with construction expected to be completed within one year.

In a separate humanitarian pledge, President Ruto announced that the government will provide Ksh. 5 million in compensation to families of the 22 people who were killed by hyenas in Juja Constituency, in a move aimed at supporting the affected households.

At the county level, President Ruto revealed that the government plans to construct 250 kilometres of roads across Kiambu County and complete all stalled road projects dating back to 2021, including the Mau Mau roads, within the next year.

On housing, he noted that Ksh. 45 billion has already been invested in affordable housing projects in Kiambu County, targeting 18,000 units, most of which are expected to be completed before the end of the year.

Further, the government will spend Ksh. 5 billion to complete 33 modern markets across the county within the next two to three months. The government is also constructing hostels to accommodate up to 15,000 students in TVET institutions and universities.

In total, the President said about Ksh. 55 billion will be channeled into housing and market projects across Kiambu County.

The president also announced that the Thika–Nairobi Expressway is set to be commissioned in October this year, a move expected to significantly ease traffic congestion along the busy corridor.
