Suspect in Thika's Biafra Estate Murder Tracked Down Near Kenya–Uganda Border
Detectives from the Homicide Unit, in collaboration with officers from Kisii South and Busia, have finally netted a suspect who had been evading arrest over a grisly murder in Thika town.
The suspect, Ken Kimanthi Gichunuku, alias “Sultan,” was wanted in connection with the killing of Seth Nyakio Njeri, whose body was found on October 14, 2024, inside Blessings Building in Biafra Estate, Thika. The shocking discovery triggered an intensive manhunt that stretched across several regions.
Police say that immediately after the murder, Gichunuku vanished, going underground in a calculated effort to avoid capture. However, through sustained investigations and critical forensic leads, detectives gradually closed in on his trail.
The search came to an end on Tuesday, when officers tracked him down and arrested him in Busia town near the Kenya–Uganda border. At the time, he was reportedly working at a cereal distribution shop, having blended into the local community while hiding in plain sight.
The suspect is currently being held in police custody as investigators complete the final stages of the case ahead of his arraignment in court.
